Hey just wondering if anyone with natural african american hair wanted to give some tips, other than perm your hair.Natural hair?
I wear my hair daily, pressing (flat-ironing) it only on special occasions. I do not know what type of texture your hair is but this is how I trained my natural hair to do what I wanted. The instructions may be long, but natural hair takes special care!!
1. Wash your hair, put it in a towel until most of the excess water is gone. Apply regular conditioner (NOT leave-in) throughout.
2. Apply a firm-hold gel throughout hair. Make sure you get it all, or the parts you miss might frizz.
3. If you're growing out a perm, this might help ease that ';new-growth';. Flat-twist the front half of hair, fastening with bobby-pins or rubber bands. (I didn't like rubber bands because they get caught easily on natural hair and cause breakage).
4. I would tie a ribbon or scarf to cover the bobby-pins or rubber bands, and secure it in place with a few more bobby-pins.
5. When in doubt, hit it with some hair spray, and if there are any rogue pieces, pin them in.
Eventually, you will be able to wear your hair in a nice 'fro. If you don't want to wear your hair in a 'fro, make sure you keep your hair conditioned!!!!!! Tight styles like cornrows or braids tear at your hair line, so try to keep that at a minimal.
GOOD LUCK!!Natural hair?
I don't have your type of hair, but frankly I have always found that the more natural it looks the more beautiful I think people look with it. I could not give you an honest idea of what to use in it either... but I can say that if you go to a beauty supply store and ask one of the girls that work there what would be a good and natural solution for the hair style you really want they should be able to help you find the products that will work best for you. I don't know about other beauty supply stores, but Sally's carries a whole line of products specifically for your hair type (most of them smell great too!!). I hope I have helped at least a little. Have a good one :) and good luck.

Having natural hair is wonderful! I've been natural for almost 6 years...There are lots of options for you...you just need to keep your mind open. First off...it would be good to know the length of your hair. You can do twists (I do them myself). There quite easy. And then you can take them out and have a ';twist-out'; fro. Email me anytime if you have any other questions or want to see any pictures.
My hair is not Afro American, but it is natural and I can give you you with a few tips to keep it strong.
1) After washing it with shampoo put 20ml vinegar mixed with 150-200ml water for shine and strangeness. It is very good for dark hair
2) Brew camomile or wall-nut tree leaves and wash you hair with their water, It also give strongness and brightness. The hairs become very mild.
3) Other good decision is to wash it with an egg.
Hope you will try it, it really works, and more important - you don't treat your hair with chemicals, but with natural ingredients only
Shea butter, and carrot oil products work well for natural hair, and also using Mane %26amp; Tail Shampoo and conditioner is healthy for natural or un-natural hair for that matter pressing is good if u choose or a really good blow dry is nice if you dry your hair. natural twists are cute and sophisticated. ther are many things you can do with natural hair or any hair it is just a matter of your imagination.
get u some good hair conditioner and blow dye ur hair straight or use a straightening iron or u can just pull them back in a bun
