What are some good hairstyles while transitioning from relaxed to natural hair?

I am 8 weeks post relaxer and I have decided to go back to my ';roots.'; I have almost bra strap length hair and I probably have 4a hair. I don't want to wear weaves, wigs or braids. Also I am going to transition for at least a year to achieve my ideal length. Any suggestions???What are some good hairstyles while transitioning from relaxed to natural hair?
Congratulations on making the excellent choice to go natural. I'm about 8 months into the transition. I plan to BC after Christmas since fully natural is more versatile and you don't completely see your texture until the ends are gone. Good luck on reaching a year, impatience can set in.

For the transitioning I LOVE Pantene Relaxed and Natural conditioner and I only try to detangle with this in it. Something you MUST know about natural hair and for during the transition.

~Never, never, never try to detangle or comb it without some type of conditioner in your hair. You are just asking for breakage and pain. Only detangle with fingers/wide tooth comb. I was getting discouraged becuase it felt like my hair was so tangly and I'm tender headed. Then I discovered that conditioner is your best friend.

As you know there are 3 options for transitioning. 1. The Big Chop 2. Leaving out

3. Braiding down/weave/wigs

WHAT YOU WANT:

~Leave hair out while transitioning

HAIRSTYLES:

1. Straighten the new growth to match the relaxed hair

%26gt;Straw sets

%26gt;Roller sets

2. I personally prefer to match the relaxed hair to natural. It's healthier, the styles last longer, you can do it yourself and it teaches you how to deal with your own texture right away.

%26gt;Natural hair color like henna (I wish I had thought of this sooner becuase you can instantly tell how much hair has grown by the dye.)

%26gt;I rock the curly fro look often and pin down/straighten the bangs

%26gt;I braid front and let back hang free

%26gt;I pin back one side of my hair and let the other side hang free

%26gt;I love the faux hawk look.

In conclusion, there is a unending amount of styles you can do in transitioning hair. You can do all of the above or in any combination. They should be low manipulation and always keep hair moisturized becuase if you want to keep it out remember that fragile demarcation line. At least braid down at night. Otherwise you're just asking for breakage.

Best of luck from Florida

You must be careful not to experience breakage between the two textures. Wet sets are great particularly for your length hair. Straw set takes a very long time to do and can be bothersome to do but it could give you an idea of how you are going to look. Remember to deep condition, use Infusium 23 before you wet set. Also as the hair grows treat it with Aphogee reconstructor product and deep conditioner every six weeks to avoid breakage at the line of demarcation. It's a tough process especially if you don't want to lose your length because your roots will be natural and the rest will be relaxed. Finally twists are pretty and because your hair is relaxed you need to use setting lotion like Lotta Body to do a twist out which gives a pretty wavy look. Remember the less you handle the hair the better it is as too much will cause breakage....I know because I did the opposite and my hair broke off to the quick in the crown so now I am wigging it until it grows out. Blessings and Peace.
Since I don't have type 4 hair, I don't have any advice with personal experience to back it - mine is 2c/3a, and very long and thick. Hopefully though, this forum (and all of the other forums on this board) will be helpful to you!

idk what to say because i was going to suggest kinky twists but that falls in the braid category.
