If you dye your hair darker will it affect your natural hair color?

Im thinking about dyeing my hair, I have a chestnutty brown, but I want to dye it darker. But im worried if I dye it I will permenatly skrew up my hair. Or can I dye it darker and then if I want my old hair color back can I dye it back to a very similar color?If you dye your hair darker will it affect your natural hair color?

It won't REALLY **** up your hair if you go darker, it might just make it a little dryer.





The only thing that'll totally ruin your hair is if you bleach it.


Going darker is fine, you can always just dye it back to a color that is closest to your natural.





If your realllyyyy worried about it, just go a little bit darker at a time. Its easier to go darker than lighter.
If you dye your hair, it won't affect any new hair growing in but dyed hair is not as stable as natural hair. If you changed your mind and dyed it back to match your natural color, the dyed part would fade over time. They do make a shampoo and conditioner for dyed brown hair to help make the color last longer, though.
once you dye your hair you can't dye it lighter, unless you remove the existing hair color (you'll have white hair) by that you'll damage your hair and it would look frizzy and not healthy since the color has been removed with all the other natural healthy oily things in your hair.





you just have to cut the old hair
it will not affect you're natural color that bad, but if you want you're old hair color back just go to a salon and get you're hair ';stripped'; it removes all the dye.

if you dye it it is very difficult to get your color back... you would have to lift it (bleach) and then color it... and possibly tone it....

Hmm.. I have heard of some cases working, and others not really working. I know for sure that if you grow out your dyed hair, it will return to the normal color.
nothing will permanently screw up your natural hair COLOR except for grays...but bleaching n dying might make it unhealthy
Any chemical component you use on your hair will have adverse affect... even if the comapany says it is not harmful to your hair...
